Joey de Leon: ‘Showtime’ — we love you. Hindi kami magkaaway’

Joey de Leon took to Instagram last Friday to dispel rumors suggesting that “Eat Bulaga” was targeting “It’s Showtime” amid alleged financial troubles. Addressing the issue, de Leon clarified that their previous statements were aimed at those spreading false information on social media rather than the rival show.

“We’re not enemies with ‘It’s Showtime.’ ‘Showtime’ has been our neighbor for a long time. We don’t attack them, and they don’t attack us,” de Leon stated, emphasizing the longstanding camaraderie between the two shows.

De Leon emphasized that their frustration was directed at social media posts claiming their show’s demise, not at “It’s Showtime” itself. He expressed gratitude for their shared journey in the industry, highlighting their mutual respect.

“We love each other. We’ve been neighbors for over a decade. So, I repeat, those spreading lies on social media are the ones we’re addressing,” de Leon reiterated.

The recent episode of “Eat Bulaga” saw de Leon and Tito Sotto debunking rumors about the show’s financial struggles and imminent closure.

On April 6, “It’s Showtime” aired its first episode on GMA after over four decades with “Eat Bulaga” before eventually moving to TV5 after parting ways with TAPE Inc.
