UAE authorities advise remote work for private sector employees due to unstable weather

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has urged private sector employees to opt for remote work on May 2, citing the prevailing unstable weather conditions across the emirate. In a statement released today, MOHRE highlighted the exemption of essential jobs requiring on-site presence and weather response teams from the flexible work arrangement.

“We urge private sector companies and their employees to stay updated with weather condition alerts issued by authorities,” MOHRE emphasized. The ministry emphasized the importance of adherence to instructions from local authorities regarding weather-related impacts on business operations.

Furthermore, MOHRE stressed the necessity for private sector entities to prioritize occupational health and safety measures during weather fluctuations to ensure the well-being of workers.

The advisory comes as the UAE braces for “medium to heavy rains” forecasted for two days, commencing Wednesday evening. Earlier directives mandated remote work for government employees, while UAE airlines have issued advisories concerning potential flight disruptions. Additionally, schools nationwide have announced a shift to distance learning for the next two days.
