Dubai’s RTA seeks public input to tackle traffic through flexible work hours

In a fresh initiative to combat traffic congestion, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has called on private sector employees to partake in a new survey. The survey focuses on understanding traffic patterns and the potential benefits of flexible work hours and remote working options.

“The Roads and Transport Authority, in cooperation with other relevant entities in Dubai, is undertaking a study to understand the current situation in the private sector in relation to ‘flexible work hours’ and ‘remote working,'” stated the RTA.

An RTA spokesperson elaborated to Khaleej Times, “We are looking to better understand commuting behaviors and work preferences among private sector employees. This survey will help us identify opportunities to manage traffic flow and reduce congestion.”

Participants in the survey will be asked about their official working days, hours, the existence of flexible start times, and current remote working policies. They will also have the opportunity to suggest other work policies, like compressed work schemes, which could improve traffic conditions.

Those who complete the survey can opt into a prize draw by providing their contact details, which the RTA assures will remain confidential and solely for research purposes.

“This feedback is crucial as it will help widen the implementation of flexible work hours and remote working practices, which are vital in reducing traffic congestion during peak hours,” the RTA noted.
