World’s largest Peppa Pig theme park to be built in Shanghai, China

In a move sure to delight Peppa Pig fans across Asia, a groundbreaking ceremony was held on Wednesday to announce the construction of the world’s largest stand-alone Peppa Pig outdoor theme park in Shanghai, China.

Slated to open its gates in 2027, the sprawling 48-acre entertainment destination will find its home on Changxing Island in Shanghai’s Chongming district. This marks a significant milestone as it’s set to be Hasbro’s inaugural Peppa Pig theme park in Asia, poised to attract families from all corners of the region.

Local officials are enthusiastic about the tourism boost anticipated from the park’s opening. “The Peppa Pig outdoor theme park will further enhance Shanghai as a global tourism destination,” shared Cai Xiaofei, deputy director at Changxing Island Administrative Committee. “We believe this theme park can serve as a flagship attraction for the island, helping to establish its own unique brand identity.”

Peppa Pig has captured the hearts of millions since her introduction to China in 2015, amassing over 10 billion views and becoming a household name among children and families.

The park aims to deliver an array of innovative features, themed areas, exhilarating rides, an immersive show, and even a themed hotel tailored to the Chinese market, catering to the diverse needs of multi-generational families.

“We are dedicated to bringing more high-quality attractions to visitors in China and across Asia,” affirmed Owen Zhao, president of Max-Matching Entertainments, Hasbro’s strategic partner for the project.
