UAE introduces new visa overstay fines for residents and tourists

The UAE Digital Government, in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security (UAEICP), has unveiled a revamped visa fine structure for residents and tourists in the UAE.

Aimed at penalizing overstays on expired residence or visit visas, the new regulations set a daily fine of AED50 for every day after a visa’s expiration date, including any grace period that might have been provided for renewal.

The Digital Government urges individuals to refer to the Authority’s website as well as the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai’s (GDRFA) website for in-depth information on visa service fees. These platforms provide full insights on charges associated with visa issuance, extension, and termination.

For those looking to apply or renew their visas, entry and permit applications can be processed through the authority’s official website, its smart application, the Dubai Now app, and authorized typing centers. Following the submission and approval of an application, the individual will receive an approval letter and the original entry permit.
