UAE cancels traffic violations for Omani citizens amid strengthening bilateral ties

The UAE Government has announced the cancellation of traffic violations for Omani citizens in the country, spanning the period from 2018 to 2023, as reported by the state-run news agency WAM.

This significant decision follows closely on the heels of Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s recent state visit to the UAE, during which he met with the country’s leaders. The visit culminated in a warm reception hosted by President Sheikh Mohamed, underscored by a grand welcome banquet and the escort of Sultan Haitham’s plane by a squadron of fighter jets upon entry and departure from UAE airspace.

“The strategic and economic partnership between the UAE and Oman grows ever stronger and we will continue to explore new collaboration opportunities that support our people’s shared aspirations for a stable and prosperous future,” remarked the UAE President.

In addition to the traffic fine waiver, a slew of collaborative projects between the two nations was unveiled, further cementing the enduring bonds between them. Notably, investment partnerships totaling Dh129 billion were announced, alongside the introduction of the eagerly awaited UAE-Oman railway, now branded as Hafeet Rail, and poised for implementation.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, echoed sentiments of mutual support and cooperation during Sultan Haitham’s visit, stating, “Oman is a depth and a support for the Emirates… and the Emirates is a depth and a support for Oman.”
