Son of construction worker tops April 2024 Registered Electrical Engineers exam

Raymond Omboy Geoman, a graduate of Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U), topped the April 2024 Registered Electrical Engineers Licensure Examination with a remarkable 95 percent score. Geoman, originally from Dalaguete town in Cebu and the son of a construction worker, expressed his surprise at his achievement.

“Mixed feelings, it has not sunk in yet. I can say to myself that I had enough preparations but I did not expect to land on Top 1 given that this board exam is full of potential topnotchers,” Geoman stated during an interview with dyLA, a local radio station.

The 23-year-old credited his success to his diligent preparations, despite his humble background. “I am super thankful that I was able to get this achievement. My father is a construction worker and my mother is a plain housewife,” he shared.

Geoman was not the only CIT-U graduate to excel. Three of his peers also ranked in the Top 10. Marc Restie Sasan Laput claimed the sixth spot with 93.05 percent, followed by Paul Anthony Manabat Aliasut in seventh with 92.95 percent, and Vijay Manuel de Guma in ninth with 92.75 percent.

John Glenn Madrid Jacob from the University of Cebu in Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue also featured prominently, securing the third position with a score of 94.10 percent.

The Professional Regulation Commission reported that 4,436 out of 7,006 candidates passed the examination.
