Around 2,000 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families gathered at the City of San Jose del Monte Sports Complex in Bulacan for the Alagang OWWA Serbisyo Caravan, which brought government assistance, employment opportunities, and other services closer to the community.
Sen. Joel Villanueva was among the officials who joined the activity, along with Congressman Arturo B. Robes and City of San Jose del Monte Mayor Florida P. Robes. Provincial PESO Manager Paul Ballon also attended on behalf of Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando.
The caravan was led by OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan, with representatives from government agencies, local government units, partner organizations, and private institutions participating in the event.
A total of 29 government agencies, partner organizations, and private institutions set up services at the venue, allowing OFWs and their families to access various forms of assistance and information without having to visit different offices separately.
Employment opportunities were also made available through a Job Fair, where participating recruitment agencies offered positions for both local and overseas employment.
The event also included support services intended to make the experience more convenient for attendees. OWWA Regional Welfare Office III operated Migrants’ Brew, providing free coffee and bread to OFWs and their families while they attended to their transactions.
The Alagang OWWA Serbisyo Caravan is designed to bring government programs and assistance directly to OFWs and their families, with participating agencies providing services in a single location to make access to information, support, and opportunities more convenient.
