The Department of Migrant Workers-National Capital Region (DMW-NCR) distributed a total of ₱5.950 million in financial assistance to 118 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) facing various crisis and emergency situations.
The assistance was released on September 16, 2026, at the DMW Central Office under the AKSYON Fund, which provides support to OFWs experiencing distress or urgent financial needs.
The aid is part of the UPLIFT initiative of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and may be used for essential daily expenses, medical needs, or livelihood-related requirements as beneficiaries work toward recovery and reintegration.
DMW-NCR Regional Director Atty. Ace Falconi V. Millar emphasized that the immediate release of assistance reflects the government’s recognition of the sacrifices made by Filipino migrant workers.
“Gaya ng bilin ni Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, kapag nariyan na ang pondo, ay agad itong iparating sa ating mga kababayan at gamitin sana ito sa kapaki-pakinabang na paraan bilang pagtanaw sa inyong sakripisyo.”
Beyond financial assistance, DMW-NCR is also working with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to provide upskilling opportunities for returning OFWs. The programs are intended to support workers as they transition back into the Philippines and pursue opportunities after migration.
