Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV has been formally recognized as an adopted son of Naga City after the Sangguniang Panlungsod passed a resolution to that effect during its 48th Regular Session.
The measure pointed to Aquino’s record on classroom-level issues, noting that he toured public schools in the city and saw firsthand the conditions students contend with — flooding, deteriorated rooms, and a shortage of safe spaces for learning. Among the campuses he visited were Julian Meliton Elementary School and Mabolo Elementary School, two of the schools in the area most in need of support.
Authored by Hon. Jefson Romeo B. Felix and co-authored by Hon. Iliad Kishi Nicole D. Chavez, the resolution credits the senator with widening opportunities for young Filipinos and small enterprises through several laws he pushed. These include the measure granting free tertiary education (RA 10931), the Go Negosyo Act (RA 10644), and the Youth Entrepreneurship Act (RA 10679), which together expanded access to schooling, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship support.
The council also tied the recognition to the electoral support Aquino drew in the city. In the 2025 polls, he was the top senatorial pick among Naga voters, tallying 69,086 votes locally — a figure the resolution frames as a measure of confidence in his reform agenda and public service.
The honor places Aquino within Naga’s tradition of celebrating figures linked to participatory and accountable governance, the same governance brand the city has long associated with its public institutions.
