Getting to Dubai Harbour now takes 3 minutes instead of 12 after RTA opens new bridge

Motorists heading to Dubai Harbour now have a faster route into one of the region’s premier waterfront districts, home to some of the Middle East’s largest yacht marinas. The Roads and Transport Authority put the new bridge into service on Friday.

According to the RTA, the structure connects Sheikh Zayed Road directly to the harbour, serving drivers arriving from the Jebel Ali and Deira directions. The authority said the link strengthens traffic connectivity around the district and makes reaching it easier.

The drop in travel time is the headline gain. The RTA noted that getting into the area now takes roughly three minutes, down from about 12, easing congestion and cutting waiting times at the entry points feeding the district.

Built with two lanes running each way, the bridge can handle as many as 6,000 vehicles every hour. The RTA said that capacity is meant to absorb rising traffic volumes and improve how residents and visitors move through the area.

The RTA also confirmed that the works extended beyond the bridge itself, with upgrades and surface improvements carried out at intersections along the route to bolster road safety and the performance of the surrounding network.
