Father succeeds in bar exam on sixth try; daughter returns to college after 10-year hiatus

Age is nothing but a number for Daddy Roberto and Kathleen Suarez, a father-daughter duo from Bulacan who have captured the hearts of netizens with their steadfast commitment to fulfilling their dreams.

Daddy Roberto, at the age of 55, realized his dream by successfully passing the Bar exams in November 2022 after six attempts.

“Sa law school, wala talaga sa edad eh. Importante, makamit mo ‘yung inumpisahan mo, matapos mo,” he shared with The Philippine STAR.

To meet his family’s needs while studying, Daddy Roberto worked various jobs and attended the Philippine Law School, finally achieving his dream of becoming a lawyer.

Kathleen, inspired by her father’s grit and perseverance, returned to her studies after initially stopping in 2009. She is now a third-year nursing student at the Nazarenus College and Hospital Foundation, Inc., and also works full-time as a financial advisor.

“Kung gusto mo na gumive up, lagi mo lang sabihin na ‘I’ll give up tomorrow.’ Para alam mo ‘yun, hindi ka gi-give up ngayon. Everyday ‘yun ‘yung sasabihin mo. Push lang nang push talaga,” she told The Philippine STAR.

The pair hope to serve as an inspiration for others.

“‘Yung mga nawawalan ng pag-asa, balikan mo kung bakit ka pumasok. Ano ‘yung naging motivation mo. Ituloy mo ‘yung dream mo na wala namang imposible kung paghihirapan mo, pagdadasalan mo,” Daddy Roberto said, encouraging those who might have lost hope to continue pursuing their dreams, emphasizing that with hard work and prayer, nothing is impossible.
