Faster transactions: Dubai Metro riders can now pay with digital Nol card recharges

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the upgrade of Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) across Dubai Metro stations, allowing riders to recharge their Nol cards using digital payment methods. With 165 out of 262 TVMs already upgraded, passengers can experience a 40% reduction in transaction time.

These renovated TVMs now offer a sleek design with distinctive colors for easy spotting at each station. Additionally, they are equipped to return change in either paper or coin currency, enhancing convenience for commuters.

Hassan Al Mutawa, Director of Rail Operations at the RTA, emphasized the agency’s commitment to customer satisfaction and innovation. The upgraded TVMs not only expedite transactions but also accommodate both banknotes and coins, meeting diverse customer needs.

Al Mutawa highlighted RTA’s vision of becoming “The World Leader in Seamless and Sustainable Mobility,” stating that the initiative aligns with this ambitious goal. Moreover, the move towards digital payments aims to enhance operational efficiency while reducing the logistical challenges associated with cash handling.

The RTA plans to encourage more Nol card users to adopt digital payment methods, aiming to increase the current 20% segment utilizing such services. This strategic shift underscores Dubai Metro’s role in providing convenient and sustainable transportation solutions for its diverse passenger base.
