Dubai temporarily suspends some bus services on New Year’s Eve

In a recent announcement by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Saturday, it was revealed that several public bus services in Dubai will be temporarily suspended on New Year’s Eve. This suspension, affecting a total of 25 routes, is set to begin on Sunday, December 31 at 3:30 pm and will last until 6 am on January 1.

The decision is part of the RTA’s efforts to manage the anticipated increase in traffic and public interest in the New Year’s Eve celebrations, particularly the fireworks. To accommodate residents and tourists during the festivities, the RTA has arranged for extended services of both the Dubai Metro and Tram. The Metro will operate non-stop for 40 hours, starting from 8 am on December 31 until the end of January 1. Similarly, the Tram service will be extended from 9 am on December 31 until 1 am on January 2.

In addition to these measures, the RTA is also deploying an extra fleet of 230 buses, which will be available to the public free of charge on New Year’s Eve. This move is aimed at minimizing traffic congestion and ensuring smooth transportation for those attending various events across the city.

The RTA encourages the public to plan their travel accordingly and make use of the extended Metro and Tram services for a hassle-free experience during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
