Dubai consul’s luggage video wrongly linked to ‘maleta’ issue, says original uploader

Footage showing Philippine Consul General in Dubai Ambrosio Brian Enciso III helping overseas Filipinos carry their luggage is being recirculated online and stripped of its original context, The Global Stories DXB said, as the clip became wrongly tied to the so-called “maleta” issue.

The publication, which produced the footage, said the video dates back to a repatriation and welfare assistance operation in March 2026. At the time, Enciso and consular staff were assisting Filipinos caught up in emergency situations in the UAE.

“The footage is now circulating out of its original context and being misrepresented as connected to the so-called ‘maleta’ matter,” The Global Stories DXB said. “We state clearly that it has no connection whatsoever to that issue. It records only consular staff providing legitimate assistance to Filipinos during an emergency operation.”

The publication said it never authorized the reuse or re-editing of the clip, and called on the public to rely only on verified information and official statements from the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai.

Its account aligns with the Consulate General’s own position. As reported by The Filipino Times, the diplomatic mission denied any connection between the video and the “maleta” controversy, saying the footage had spread online without proper context. The Consulate added that its personnel remain focused on protecting the rights and welfare of Filipinos across Dubai and the Northern Emirates, particularly during emergencies.
