Dubai construction workers live the millionaire life for a day

Sixteen construction workers from Dubai were treated to a life of luxury on International Labour Day as part of a unique appreciation initiative by their employer, World Star Holding. The event, dubbed ‘One-Day Millionaire’, allowed these top-performing employees to temporarily shed their work attire and experience the high life.

“I never imagined that I would be a guest at a five-star hotel,” shared Ramdayal, an Indian worker who has contributed to building numerous upscale hotels in Dubai. Celebrating eight years with the company, he expressed his awe and gratitude for the experience.

The day began with a quick ceremony where the workers received the Golden Achievement award and then changed into custom blue suits. A fleet of luxury cars, including Ferraris and Lamborghinis, whisked them away for a festive day that started at Dubai Marina with yacht parties and cake cutting.

Following the marina festivities, the group enjoyed a night at a five-star hotel and dined at fine restaurants. “Such opportunities to enjoy life are rarely seen or dreamed of for us. It’s a source of joy to experience them,” said Jahid, a Bangladeshi worker and 12-year company veteran.

Haseena Nishad, managing director of World Star Holding, explained that the initiative aims to inspire workers to excel. The company has a tradition of rewarding outstanding workers with experiences and trips, like last year’s all-expenses-paid trip to Georgia. However, moving forward, the focus will shift towards enhancing the education of their workers’ children.

“We take pride in making workers’ children switch from blue-collar to white-collar workers in the future,” stated Nishad Hussain, chairman of the company, highlighting the importance of education in their ongoing efforts to support their employees’ families.
