The Marcos administration is pushing back against criticism that it has been minimizing the effects of the ongoing Middle East tensions on ordinary Filipinos, including the rising cost of fuel.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro told reporters Monday that the government is pursuing every available option to help those affected by the conflict.
“Wala naman tayong dina-downplay,” Castro said.
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. last week said supplies of basic goods and commodities remain adequate despite the situation abroad. He also said authorities are actively looking at alternative sources of petroleum products as prices continue to rise.
