Cacdac to OFWs in Oman: Government won’t leave you behind

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac traveled to Oman to meet directly with members of the Filipino community there, delivering a pledge of sustained government support as regional tensions continue to weigh on overseas workers across the Middle East.

The visit centered on the Philippine government’s One Country Team framework, under which embassies and migrant worker offices coordinate to deliver unified services to Filipinos abroad. In Oman, this translates to on-site welfare assistance, legal aid, food, temporary shelter, and repatriation support for workers who need it.

“We are here to personally assure you of the government’s firm commitment to strengthening protections for our OFWs and to ensuring responsive assistance for your concerns,” Cacdac said.

Beyond immediate assistance, Cacdac outlined reintegration pathways available to returning workers through the National Reintegration Network, a program the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is implementing under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Cacdac also urged Filipinos in Oman to stay closely coordinated with the Philippine Embassy and the Migrant Workers Office in Muscat, and to adhere strictly to local safety protocols — a practical measure the DMW chief framed as essential to keeping workers secure amid the ongoing situation in the region.
