All you need to know about the OFW Pass

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has officially initiated a pilot testing for its latest digital tools: the DMW Mobile Application and the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Pass. The program is currently being trialed in ten countries, including the United Arab Emirates.

Key Features and Benefits:

  1. DMW Mobile App: Aimed at enhancing the overseas experience for OFWs, this digital platform offers various essential services. Notably, it enables users to acquire the new OFW Pass, which is set to supersede the traditional Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC).
  2. OFW Pass: This digital ID offers a smoother user experience compared to the OEC. Unlike the OEC, which only has a 60-day validity, the OFW Pass remains valid until the termination of an OFW’s employment contract. Additionally, acquiring this pass is free, with the added advantage of improved compatibility with other governmental applications in the future.

How to Access and Use:

  • The DMW Mobile App is available for both Android and Apple users and can be found on Google Play and the App Store.
  • During its pilot phase, the DMW Mobile App and OFW Pass are undergoing continual improvements based on user feedback.
  • An authentication procedure using a One-Time Password sent to the worker’s email address is in place for the app’s security.

Eligibility for the Pilot Test:

  • Access to the DMW Mobile App requires prior registration on the DMW’s e-Registration system.
  • While the current system for acquiring the OEC remains operational, acquiring the OFW Pass during the pilot phase is exclusive to those with a prior OEC record under the same employer.

Support and Further Information: For accurate updates and announcements regarding these new digital tools, OFWs can refer to the official DMW website and Facebook page. The Migrant Worker Office in Dubai will also post relevant information on its website and Facebook page.

OFWs with queries or feedback are encouraged to reach out to DMW through multiple contact channels, including FB Messenger, email, and various communication apps.
