Abu Dhabi jails two men, fines one AED 100,000 over fake emergency lights on a car

Two men will each spend six months behind bars after an Abu Dhabi court found them guilty of causing a public disturbance on a roadway, with one also ordered to pay a fine of AED 100,000, according to Gulf Today.

The penalty for the fined defendant fell on the manager of a firm dealing in security systems. The court determined that he had provided an emergency systems device to the other man’s vehicle without the required authorization. As part of the ruling, judges directed that the company’s stock connected to the sale be seized.

The second man received his six-month term after operating a vehicle fitted with the type of warning lights reserved for emergency vehicles, having no legal permission to use such equipment on a public road. The court also ordered his vehicle confiscated.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department used the case to caution shop owners and trading firms against marketing equipment meant for emergency vehicles and fitting it onto private cars. The department called on residents to follow legal requirements, framing such compliance as an expression of social responsibility that strengthens public safety, and noted that an integrated digital monitoring system now supports work aimed at stopping illegal practices.
