A cargo of 5,000 winter kits from the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation has gone out on the opening flight of this year’s “Winter Clothing” campaign for Gaza, packed with 50,000 jackets along with blankets and other cold-weather items for Palestinian families.
The campaign aims to reach one million people across the Gaza Strip this season. It runs under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, which the UAE set up on the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as part of its continuing support for Palestinians.
Hammoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations, said the drive is organized every year based on conditions in Gaza, and that this year’s goal is one million beneficiaries. He pointed to the foundation’s share of the first flight as a sign of UAE humanitarian groups pooling their work to keep Palestinian households safe through the cold months.
Abdulaziz Al Zaidi, Director of Community Services at the foundation, said the consignment was sent in coordination with the operation to meet what families will need before temperatures drop.
Al Zaidi said the shipment also shows the country’s relief bodies working as one to get basic aid into Gaza, carrying forward the humanitarian principles set by the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
