Passengers returning through Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s oldest terminal will find a noticeably different experience at the arrivals bay, following a series of infrastructure upgrades carried out by the New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation.
Among the most immediate changes is a redesigned ramp connecting the terminal to the pickup zone. The gradient has been reduced and the surface fitted with anti-slip rubber matting—a fix aimed at making the descent safer for passengers managing luggage carts and wheelchairs.
Ground transportation has also been reorganized. Yellow metered taxis, coupon taxis, and ride-hailing services now operate from separate designated bays under a centralized hub arrangement, replacing the previous setup that frequently left arriving passengers unsure of where to wait or direct their drivers.
Improved wayfinding signage has been installed throughout the pickup area to further reduce the confusion that has long characterized arrivals at Terminal 1, which remains the oldest operating airport terminal in Metro Manila.
Dining options have been added to the arrivals level as well, with Chowking, Kenny Rogers, and additional food outlets either already open or opening soon—giving passengers somewhere to eat before heading into the city.
The overhaul addresses complaints that have followed Terminal 1 for years, from poorly lit walkways to the disorganized flow of vehicles and passengers in the pickup bays.
