A dedicated lounge for Overseas Filipino Workers is now operational at Zamboanga International Airport following its inauguration on Tuesday, May 5, with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and the Department of Migrant Workers jointly behind the facility.
The DMW took the lead in establishing the lounge, which is designed to provide comfort, assistance, and essential services to OFWs passing through the airport — whether leaving the country for work or returning home.
CAAP Director General Retired Lt. Gen. Raul del Rosario framed the opening as part of a broader push to make the country’s airports more responsive to the needs of migrant workers. “The establishment of OFW Lounge reflects our continued commitment to make our airports more inclusive and responsive. We want our OFWs to feel valued, supported, and cared for from the moment they depart or arrive at the airport,” he said.
The aviation authority said it intends to build on such efforts, with passenger-centered programs aimed at improving care and convenience at airports under its jurisdiction.
