The 2026 Asian Games will feature a Yulo family showing, with Olympic champion Carlos and his younger brother Eldrew both named to the Philippine gymnastics contingent headed to next month’s continental competition.
Carlos and Eldrew anchor the men’s artistic gymnastics roster, joined by Juancho Miguel Besana, Justin Ace De Leon and Zachary Cortins Nuñez. On the rhythmic side, Breanna Labadan and Jasmine Althea Ramilo make up the pairing, while Jerry Ilano Jr. and Janine Padilla Luvicar round out the delegation as the country’s trampoline entries.
The women’s artistic team leans on Olympian Levi Ruivivar, who leads a group that also includes Kylee Kvamme, Chiara Dawn Andrew, Lauren Supnet and Haylee Garcia. Ruivivar’s role has grown heavier following the right foot surgery that Emma Malabuyo, her fellow Olympian, underwent earlier this month.
For Carlos, the Asiad marks a return to an event he sat out in 2022, when the Hangzhou edition overlapped with the world championships that doubled as an Olympic qualifier. That gamble paid off — he secured his Olympic berth and later claimed two gold medals in floor exercise and vault, a résumé he brings into the regional meet.
Eldrew, 18, arrives with fresh momentum of his own after taking bronze in floor exercise at the Asian Men’s Artistic Gymnastics in China this past June. His junior career has already yielded a gold and two silvers in vault across various stagings of the Asian championships, along with bronze finishes in floor exercise and horizontal bar at last year’s Junior World Championships.
