US Embassy to Filipinos: Beware of fake visa guarantees

Filipinos hoping to travel to the United States have been told to ignore anyone promising a sure-fire visa, with the US Embassy in Manila making clear that approval can never be bought or assured ahead of an actual interview.

Consular officers alone decide each case, the embassy said, and they do so only after weighing an application against US immigration law. Every request is judged on its own, and no outside party can influence the outcome.

“We cannot guarantee visa issuance. If someone guarantees you a visa, it is a scam,” the embassy stated.

The warning, shared across the embassy’s official social media accounts, urged the public to treat any offer of a shortcut or a guaranteed result as fraudulent. Applicants were told to draw their information solely from legitimate US government channels rather than third parties claiming inside access.

To that end, the embassy pointed people toward three trusted resources: its own website, the U.S. Visa Customer Service Center site, and the visa section maintained by the US Department of State. Genuine correspondence, it added, comes only from addresses ending in @state.gov or @ustraveldocs.com.

The embassy also spelled out what it does not do. It does not reach applicants through Viber or Telegram, does not back particular travel agencies or lawyers, and does not entertain special arrangements, personal connections, or any form of shortcut.

The advisory falls under the embassy’s #WalangSikreto campaign, an effort built around openness in how US visas are processed.

“No Secrets. No Exceptions. No Tolerance for Fraud,” the embassy said.
