UAE to experience more rains as summer approaches, says weather expert

Residents of the UAE should prepare for additional rainfall in the coming days, particularly in the southern and western regions, as the country moves into the summer season.

In a Khaleej Times report, Dr. Ahmed Habib of the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts higher chances of rain starting Sunday, May 5, with diminishing likelihood by next Tuesday. While Sharjah and Dubai may see less rainfall, the coastal and southern inland areas are expected to be more affected.

Dr. Habib clarified that the UAE is currently in a transitional weather phase, with fluctuating conditions and rising temperatures, which are expected to average between 26 and 33.5 degrees Celsius. He noted that despite the recent heavy rainfall and hail in early May, significant weather events are not anticipated in the near future. However, cloud movements could still bring sporadic rain.

Looking ahead, the summer is set to begin in June, with temperatures potentially reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius in the more arid southern regions. The extended daylight hours are also contributing to the warming trend, as the sun moves north of the equator.
