UAE rejects claims it channeled $3 billion to Iran, calls reports baseless

Emirati authorities have pushed back forcefully against international media reporting that claimed the country moved money to Iran, dismissing as fabrications any suggestion that $3 billion or any other sum changed hands.

The denial came through a Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement carried by the state news agency Wam, which described the reporting as “false and unfounded.” According to the Ministry, no Iranian assets that had been frozen were unlocked, moved, or routed with Emirati help.

Officials used the same statement to press news organizations on their reporting standards, urging them to verify claims against official channels and to stop spreading material that has not been confirmed.

The rejection of the funding allegations sits within a broader stance the Emirates has taken on the regional conflict. The country has said on multiple occasions that it will stay out of the fighting entirely, ruling out the use of its land, waters, or skies for any military operation tied to the war.

That position has held even as Emirati infrastructure came under attack. Rather than answer such incidents with force, officials have leaned toward calming tensions, framing diplomacy as the preferred route to any settlement while still asserting the country’s entitlement to guard its sovereignty and defend itself.

Senior figures have also signaled resilience in the face of those attacks, saying the country would not be cowed and would emerge in a stronger position after a difficult period.
