Two recruiters nabbed for collecting over P300,000 in fake Poland job scam

Facing charges tied to illegal recruitment, Jomalyn Baya Fisher and Glydel Suyon were taken into custody after complainants told authorities they had been charged more than ₱300,000 in processing fees for promised factory and welding jobs in Poland that never materialized.

The two were apprehended during an entrapment operation mounted by the Department of Migrant Workers together with the Philippine National Police–Criminal Investigation and Detection Group. Verification by the DMW established that while Fisher and Suyon held recruitment officer posts at a licensed agency, that agency was not Venancia Consultancy PTY Ltd./Venancia International Manpower, Inc. Investigators concluded the pair had leveraged their official roles to deceive applicants pursuing overseas work.

The same operation carried out Closure Order No. 24, which shut down the offices of Venancia Consultancy PTY Ltd./Venancia International Manpower, Inc. According to the DMW’s findings, the firm held no approved job order for Poland and lacked any permit from the department authorizing it to conduct recruitment.

Leading the operation was DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, joined by Undersecretary Bernard P. Olalia, Assistant Secretary Jerome A. Alcantara, Director Romelson Abbang, Director Eric Dollete, and Regional Director Falconi Millar.

The department reminded the public to confirm that any recruitment agency is licensed, authorized, and holds an approved job order before applying for jobs abroad, and urged applicants and their families to report suspicious recruitment activity to the DMW or proper authorities to guard against deception and exploitation.

The DMW framed the action as consistent with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to safeguard the welfare, lives, and rights of Overseas Filipino Workers and their families, pledging that the victims would obtain justice and that everyone involved in the illegal operation would be held to account.
