Two expats in UAE win $1 million or AED3.6 million in Dubai Duty Free draw

Two expatriates have won $1 million each in the recent Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire weekly draw held at Dubai International Airport.

Foysal Hossain, a 32-year-old businessman from Bangladesh based in Sharjah, was one of the lucky winners. Hossain, who has lived in the UAE for 13 years and runs a supermarket and quad bike rental shop, has been a consistent participant in the promotional draws for two years. “What great news, thank you so much Dubai Duty Free,” Hossain exclaimed upon hearing of his win. Notably, he is only the second Bangladeshi to claim the $1 million prize since the promotion began in 1999.

The other millionaire is Ratheesh KR, an Indian national residing in Dubai. KR had purchased his ticket on August 4 as he was en route to Thiruvananthapuram. Efforts to contact him following the announcement were initially unsuccessful.

The celebration did not stop with the millionaire announcements. In the subsequent Finest Surprise draw, several individuals walked away with prized vehicles.

Maher Al Aghbar, a 63-year-old Canadian based in Dubai, secured a Mercedes Benz S500 car, while Atif Zubair, a 47-year-old Pakistani from Sharjah, clinched a BMW 740i M Sport car. “I can’t believe that I won this early with my first ever ticket. I will continue participating to win more,” said an ecstatic Zubair.

In the motorbike category, Khorrami Serrigani, a 63-year-old Iranian, won an Indian Chief Dark Horse, and Sharon Meynert, a 51-year-old Sri Lankan, grabbed a BMW R 1250 R motorbike. Meynert, a decade-long participant in the promotion, shared, “Finally, my perseverance has paid off. Thank you so much, Dubai Duty Free.”
