Two grade-schoolers from Carmona City, Cavite carried the entire Philippine delegation at the Asian Champions League (ACL) International Finals 2026 in Hong Kong, walking away with five trophies and two gold medals against competitors from nine other countries.
The sisters — Gwenn Louisse A. Deomampo, 16, and Gail Elora Loise A. Deomampo, 8 — earned the Diamond Award, the event’s top scoring tier, in English, and Gold Awards in Science.
In the Asian English Champions League (AECL) International Final, both siblings took home Diamond Award trophies for landing in the highest scoring category. Each also secured a Gold Award in the Asian Science Champions League (ASCL) International Final. Their standing across both fields earned them Grand Bangyan Award trophies, given to those who place at the top in every subject. The pair additionally received the Grand World Star Award trophy as Team Philippines, bringing their combined haul to five trophies and two gold medals.
The competition ran August 21 to 25, 2026, in Hong Kong, China, drawing delegations from Hong Kong, Cambodia, Uzbekistan, Macau, Singapore and others. The Deomampos were the country’s only entrants, a fact they said fueled rather than hindered their performance.
“Being few in number was not a hindrance. Instead, we rose to the occasion and showed the world what Filipinos can do. Once again, the Philippine flag is worth raising.”
Gwenn Louisse is a Grade 11 student at University of Perpetual Help System JONELTA – GMA Campus, while Gail Elora attends Saint Michael Montessori de Carmona as a Grade 3 pupil.
