Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge breaks records with over 2,700 participants at Expo City Dubai

The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge celebrated its 14th edition with a bang at its new venue, Expo City Dubai, drawing an astounding number of participants – over 2,700 cyclists registered for the event in partnership with the Dubai Sports Council.

Dubai, UAE – The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge witnessed its 14th edition at Expo City Dubai, attracting a record-breaking turnout of over 2,700 cyclists for the exhilarating event held in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council.

The weekend extravaganza filled the streets of Dubai with the sights and sounds of cycling enthusiasts, as participants tackled various challenges amidst a vibrant atmosphere. The highlight of the event was the 2024 UCI Gran Fondo World Series qualifier, featuring over 280 elite riders covering a 94.1-kilometer course spanning the city.

Elite athletes Maksim Orekhov and Olivija Baleišytė emerged victorious in the male and female categories, crossing the finish line with impressive times of 2:00:18 and 2:00:21, respectively. The fiercely contested race also saw remarkable performances from Yacine Hamza, Franceso Lamon, Akvilė Gedraitytė, and Maddison Black, who clinched podium spots in their respective categories.

In the Aster Pharmacy BIG 5 competition, Almir Mujic and Lorraine Mullarkey claimed victory in the Yellow Jersey Category, while Gerry Van Den Eynde and Helle Bachofen Von Echt emerged as winners in the Vets Category.

The Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge catered to cyclists of all ages, with a record number of young riders participating in the InstaShop Junior Rides. Additionally, the TotalEnergies Outride offered a family-friendly 35km race from Expo City Dubai.

The post-race festivities at the Spinneys Eat Well Live Well race village provided a perfect setting for participants to unwind and celebrate their achievements.

As a key qualifying race in the 2024 UCI Gran Fondo World Series season, it offers participants a chance to compete at the highest level in the sport.
