Snow and hail hit Northern Saudi Arabia, transforming Jabal Al Lawz into a winter wonderland

Saudi Arabia’s Jabal Al Lawz region in Tabuk, famed for its Almond Mountains, has witnessed a stunning transformation into a winter landscape, thanks to an unusual snowfall and hail. Photographer Mushir Al Balawi, also known as ‘Marshall’, captured the breathtaking scenes of the snow-covered Almond Mountains, sparking excitement and widespread sharing of these images on social media.

Residents in Tabuk have been flocking to the Almond Mountains to enjoy the rare snowfall, which has turned the area into a picturesque winter wonderland. The mountain, part of the Hasma region’s high ranges and standing at 2,580 meters above sea level, is a beloved spot for adventure enthusiasts, especially during the winter.

Adding to the wintry spectacle, the city of Buraidah experienced a unique hailstorm, leaving its streets blanketed in hail. This event stirred considerable excitement among locals, who eagerly shared their experiences on social media platforms. The Kingdom is currently undergoing a period of heavy rain, with hail in certain areas.

While snowfall is a rare occurrence in Saudi Arabia, it happens annually in some mountainous regions during the winter season. Other cities in the Kingdom are also witnessing light to moderate rainfall, marking a significant climatic event in the region.
