A Facebook post by a foreign woman expressing curiosity about the consistent pleasant detergent scent she noticed among Filipinos has sparked a wave of good vibes online.
In her viral video, the woman shared her experience while walking home. “I am walking back home now and one Filipino couple passed by me,” she said.
“And what you think how they smell, how they smell, they smell like they came outside of [the] washing machine, and smell is like fresh you know, they smell like detergent you know, and not only this couple, everyone! [Every] Filipino smells the same, but it’s not bad, I just want to ask you which detergent you’re using? I want the same because it smells amazing, and also, I like it! I kind like it!”
The post has elicited a variety of reactions from netizens, celebrating the positive remark about Filipino hygiene.
“When I was working in Bahrain, one of our hotel guests told me that he’s been to a lot of countries but only in the Philippines he noticed that every morning when he roamed around, everyone’s hair was wet and freshly showered,” one comment read.
Another netizen explained, “We smell like detergent because we wear freshly washed clothes everyday. We don’t smell like channel or any fancy cologne because our freshly-washed clothes smells better.”
