SB19’s ‘Moonlight’ hits number one in nine countries, including in UAE

P-pop sensation SB19’s latest track, “Moonlight,” has topped the charts in nine countries following its release last Friday. The song, a collaboration with producers from the United States and China, has captivated fans globally with its innovative sound and dynamic production.

“This kind of music is new to us. The production is very current yet experimental,” the group shared about their latest project. “Moonlight” was produced in conjunction with U.S.-based Ian Asher, Chinese electronic producer Terry Zhong, and Lenno Linjama, with Serge Courtois handling the mixing.

The single achieved the number one position in the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Indonesia, Cambodia, Bahrain, and Qatar by Sunday. It also reached the 10th spot in iTunes worldwide sales on Saturday.

SB19 met producer Ian Asher, 23, in New York during their PAGTATAG! tour in 2023. “We were surprised at how talented and prolific he is at such a young age,” they remarked.

The music video for “Moonlight,” directed by the band’s own Justin De Dios, has already surpassed one million views. It features a minimalist aesthetic and intricate choreography by Jay Roncesvalles. Justin described the video’s unique style, noting, “I wanted to evoke the feeling of rapture to the point that one loses control,” using “weird and quirky movements” to contrast the lyrics.

“Moonlight” is SB19’s first release since their EP “PAGTATAG!” which included the viral hit “GENTO.” The group, consisting of members Pablo, Josh, Stell, Justin, and Ken, is currently preparing for a two-day concert in Manila to conclude their world tour on May 18 and 19.
