Several dining establishments at NAIA Terminal 3 have agreed to provide complimentary service water to customers following a social media backlash, Bilyonaryo News reported.
The change came after a diner publicly questioned why one restaurant charged for drinking water instead of offering it free of charge. Posting on Threads, she recounted being informed at Mama Lou’s that service water was unavailable, with only bottled water on offer at P75.
“Just wow. Bottled water priced at Php 75. What a disappointing experience. Service water should be a basic provision for diners at any restaurant. It’s the most basic service,” she wrote.
According to her account, she and her companions scrapped their orders on the spot and relocated to Mary Grace, where staff brought out two carafes of water the moment the group sat down.
Her post invited other social media users to identify restaurants that withheld free water, and a number of them responded with accounts of comparable treatment.
The wave of online criticism reached the businesses named in the exchange, prompting several to announce that drinking water would be made available to their customers at no cost.
