Potato Corner opens at Flayva food hall in Dubai’s Al Ghurair Centre

Philippine flavored fries brand Potato Corner has opened a new branch at Flayva, the street food hall inside Al Ghurair Centre in Deira, Dubai, adding to its growing footprint in the UAE.

Flayva is a global street food hall featuring 23 homegrown concepts spanning 3,318 square feet, capable of accommodating approximately 500 guests at a time, with cuisines ranging from Vietnamese and Indian to Indonesian, Japanese, and Lebanese.

Potato Corner joins the multi-concept dining destination as one of its Filipino offerings, bringing its signature seasoned fries to the heart of Old Dubai.

The new branch is part of OTH Group’s broader push to expand Potato Corner’s presence across the UAE. A third Dubai branch is planned at BurJuman Centre, with the franchise owner also eyeing opportunities in other emirates and across the wider Gulf Cooperation Council. “We are aiming to secure the master franchise in the GCC region and expand aggressively, especially where Filipinos are longing for that familiar homegrown taste and nostalgia,” said Rolly Brucales, Managing Director of OTH Group, which holds the franchise rights to Potato Corner in the UAE.

Potato Corner’s first UAE store opened at Ibn Battuta Mall in 2022, marking the brand’s entry into the Gulf market. The Al Ghurair Centre branch is the second confirmed Dubai outlet and part of a strategy Brucales said aims to triple revenue growth in the country.

Al Ghurair Centre, the first mall of its kind in Dubai when it opened in 1981, has seen an 11 percent increase in footfall since Flayva’s launch, with the food hall serving more than 34,000 customers within its first three weeks of opening.

The venue’s diverse, multicultural dining mix aligns with what Brucales describes as Potato Corner’s core strength — its ability to appeal across nationalities. “The country’s multicultural population has further strengthened the appeal of fries as a neutral, universally loved food that transcends cultural boundaries,” he said.
