Pinay worker in Turkey returns home after months of overwork and stress

A Filipina household worker who endured extreme exhaustion and emotional strain while working in Turkey has been safely repatriated and is now under the care of Philippine authorities.

Jennifer Vilnas, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Central Visayas, was brought home with the help of the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Lebanon, which oversees Turkey, in coordination with the Philippine Embassy. The immediate intervention was prompted by her deteriorating condition, reportedly due to prolonged working hours, physical weakness, and distress caused by her employer’s wife.

Upon her arrival in the Philippines, Vilnas was received by representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), who provided her with initial counseling and temporary shelter.

She is also set to undergo thorough medical and psychological evaluation through OWWA Region 7, which will oversee her reintegration into the community. Vilnas will receive financial aid and livelihood assistance under the DMW AKSYON Fund, along with additional support from OWWA.

Authorities confirmed that her case will be reviewed for possible legal action against her employer or recruitment agency.
