SB19 has drawn fresh recognition in the Senate, with Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan lodging a measure that praises the P-pop group for its landmark set at Lollapalooza 2026 in Chicago, Illinois.
Filed on August 4 as Senate Resolution No. 573 and released to reporters on Thursday, Pangilinan’s measure framed the group’s turn at the festival as an achievement that “cemented Philippine pop music on the global stage.” He called the appearance a “momentous occasion” that showcased Filipino talent across music, arts, and dance, and pointed to the act’s part in carrying Original Pilipino Music (OPM) before an international crowd.
The document reaches back into the group’s earlier milestones as well. Among them was its 2021 nod at the Billboard Music Awards, where it stood as the first Filipino group and Southeast Asian act shortlisted in the Top Social Artist category. Pangilinan’s resolution also acknowledged the members’ charitable efforts, noting their donation of protective gear to hospitals in the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic and their support for those affected by Tropical Storm Kristine, known internationally as Trami, in 2024.
The Chicago festival, staged each year at Grant Park, ran this time from July 30 through August 2. SB19 took the Allianz Stage on the event’s second day. Their lineup of songs included “DAM,” “GENTO,” “LAWLESS,” “Emoi,” “MAPA,” “WAKAS,” “WISA,” “Dungka,” and “CRIMZONE,” alongside their rendition of Francis Magalona’s “Mga Kababayan.”
Pangilinan is not the first lawmaker to mark the occasion in the chamber. Sen. Bam Aquino had already put forward Senate Resolution No. 545 on July 31, singling out the group as the first all-Filipino act to appear at the festival.
The group has since signaled a possible slot at Coachella in 2027 and confirmed that its “Wakas at Simula: The Trilogy Finale” concert will reach cinemas worldwide.
