Padilla selling iconic Quezon City property to fund planned move abroad after 2028

Disillusioned with the country’s political system, Senator Robin Padilla is planning to leave the Philippines after his term ends in 2028 — and has already listed his iconic Museo de Padilla property for sale to fund the move.

The senator made the disclosure on Bilyonaryo News Channel’s “Politiko Talks” program on Friday night, naming the Netherlands and Germany as destinations he and his family are considering.

“Gusto ko na talagang magpunta sa abroad. Magpunta na nga kami ng Netherlands, ng Germany,” Padilla said on the program.

The property in question is a Spanish-style house located in Fairview, Quezon City. Padilla shared a clip of it on his social media on April 19, confirming it is now on the market. He said the sale was a practical decision tied directly to financing the family’s planned relocation.

“Kaya napunta doon sa usapin na i-be-benta ko ‘yung bahay. Kasi parang maka-afford namin,” the senator said.

Padilla also revealed that he and his family had already traveled to several countries — including Iceland and Brunei — on what he described as ocular visits to assess where they might eventually settle.

His stated reason for stepping back goes beyond logistics. Padilla expressed deep disillusionment with how the Philippine government functions, saying the system has left him without hope for meaningful change.

“Kung hindi natin mababago ang sistema ng gobyerno sa Pilipinas, eh, i-enjoy ko na lang ‘yung asawa ko, mag-ano na lang ako sa mga anak ko, kasi … hindi ako naniniwala sa sistema na ‘to,” he said.

“I’m sorry. Patawarin niyo ako, hindi ko nakikita ang future ng sistema na ‘to,” he added.

On the 2028 elections, Padilla said he is rooting for fellow “Politiko Talks” host Jimmy Bondoc to take a Senate seat — effectively signaling he does not intend to seek another term for himself.

“So ito ngayon, (sa) 2028. Gusto ko nga si Jimmy (Bondoc) na maging senador eh,” Padilla said, addressing Bondoc directly on air.
