Financial aid exceeding P10.4 million reached 180 distressed overseas Filipino workers and their family members during the opening of “Handog ng Pangulo Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat,” held September 13, 2026, at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium.
Among the recipients was Salvacion Ornedo, who previously worked as a domestic helper in Bahrain and expressed deep gratitude for the medical assistance she obtained through the fund.
“Maraming salamat sa DMW po matutugunan yun pangangailangan ko sa pagpapagamot ko po at sa pamilya ko. Iingatan ko po ang ibinigay ninyong tulong,” Ornedo said.
The disbursements came from the Agarang Kalinga at Saklolo para sa mga OFWs na Nangangailangan (AKSYON) Fund, distributed by the Department of Migrant Workers Regional Office III (DMW-ROIII). The program draws from the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) initiative, which the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. designed to address the needs of Filipino workers facing hardship abroad.
Officials scheduled the event to coincide with Bulacan’s Singkaban Festival, pairing it with a “Trabaho Agad Job Fair” so residents could access a wider range of government services in one setting. The undertaking brought together DMW-ROIII-Bulacan, the Bulacan Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PPESO), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and the Department of Labor and Employment.
DMW RO III Assistant Regional Director Dennis Manzanero, addressing the beneficiaries, framed the aid as a foundation for their return home.
“Sana po itong matatanggap ninyo ngayon ay magsilbing isang magandang panimula sa isang magandang buhay niyo po dito sa ating bayang Pilipinas,” Manzanero said.
