The Migrant Workers Office in Dubai is set to distribute $200 (AED730) cash assistance to around 3,000 overseas Filipino workers who have lost their jobs or are under a “no work, no pay” arrangement amid the continuing regional tensions, Bombo Radyo reported.
Labor Attaché John Rio A. Bautista said the funds have already been transferred from MWO Manila, and the first batch of 3,000 recipients reflects the initial budget available for the rollout.
An advisory carrying a link to the online application form is scheduled for release on April 28. Once a worker submits an application, the MWO will take up to three days to verify eligibility before notifying those who qualify.
Approved applicants will be able to collect the assistance through Al Ansari remittance centers, removing the need to visit the MWO office in person.
To qualify, workers must complete the online registration and submit proof of OFW status — such as an Emirates ID, labor card, or employment contract — along with documentation showing that their employment has been affected, including a company certification or a notice of contract cancellation.
Bautista said the application process was deliberately simplified to allow affected workers to file their claims as quickly as possible. With an estimated 500,000 Filipinos in Dubai and another 250,000 across nearby emirates, the MWO is anticipating a high volume of applications once the advisory goes live.
