Neymar set to join Saudi club Al Hilal in a 2-year deal

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star forward, Neymar, is reportedly on the brink of sealing a two-year deal with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal. The deal is said to be worth 160 million euros ($175 million) over the course of two seasons, according to the French sports daily L’Equipe.

While Neymar’s current contract with PSG lasts until 2025, this move signals a potential exit for the Brazilian ace during the ongoing summer transfer window. The reasons behind Neymar’s decision remain unclear, but he was noticeably absent from PSG’s opening game of the season against Lorient, after training solo a day prior due to a reported viral infection.

Neymar’s potential transfer is reminiscent of his groundbreaking move to PSG six years ago, when he left Barcelona for a staggering 222 million euros ($244 million) – a world-record transfer at the time. This comes amidst rumors of another high-profile PSG forward, Kylian Mbappe, who has been at the center of a transfer saga involving a $332 million bid from Al Hilal. Despite this, Mbappe has been largely associated with a prospective move to Real Madrid.

Tensions at PSG seem to be simmering, with Mbappe returning to training after what has been described as “constructive and positive talks” with the club. Additionally, another PSG mainstay, Marco Verratti, is speculated to be on the move to the Saudi league.

Representatives from PSG are yet to confirm Neymar’s deal with Al Hilal. The upcoming days will be crucial in determining the landscape of European football for the coming season.
