New OWWA office in Nueva Vizcaya makes services easier to reach for OFWs

Filipino migrant workers in Nueva Vizcaya can now handle their transactions with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration without traveling to distant offices, following the opening of a new OWWA sub-office in the province.

The facility allows overseas Filipino workers, returning migrants, and their relatives to register or renew their OWWA membership, apply for welfare assistance, and access scholarships, livelihood support, reintegration programs, and insurance benefits within their locality. Officials said the arrangement cuts the time, expense, and inconvenience that come with reaching far-flung branches, giving members quicker access to the entitlements they have earned.

The launch coincided with the province’s first Alagang OWWA Serbisyo Caravan, an effort the agency framed as part of its push to deliver social protection directly to migrant communities rather than requiring workers to seek it out.

OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne “PY” Caunan led the opening alongside Nueva Vizcaya Governor Jose V. Gambito, Vice Governor Eufemia “Ming” Ang-Dacayo, OWWA Regional Welfare Office II Regional Director Virsie A. Tamayao, and PESO Provincial Manager Dolly Rose Minas.

The agency described the sub-office as a product of its partnership with the provincial government and local counterparts, and pointed to the broader goal of extending its reach from Filipino communities abroad down to individual provinces so that more families understand and can claim the benefits available to them at each stage of the migration journey.
