NBI subpoenas 3 vloggers over false Marcos health claims

The National Bureau of Investigation has issued subpoenas to three content creators accused of spreading fabricated information about President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s health, the Palace confirmed Monday.

Presidential Communications Office Press Officer Claire Castro identified the three as Rigondola Ping, Crage Anderpal, and Iloy Bugris.

The PCO’s Anti Fake News Desk had previously brought complaints against the three before the Department of Justice. According to the complaint, Bugris went on a live social media broadcast claiming the President was critically ill. Ping manipulated photos to suggest Marcos was in poor health, while Anderpal circulated false graphics purportedly confirming the same.

Castro warned that authorities would not relent in pursuing those behind disinformation campaigns.

Separately, the PCO has also filed charges against a social media page that published false reports concerning the country’s energy sector.
