Travelers heading to Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 should brace for altered traffic arrangements starting July 15, when a new round of construction work forces the shutdown of one departure lane during late-night hours.
The changes will be active every night from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. and are expected to run through August 14, 2026, according to the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the airport’s private operator, which released the details on Monday.
At the center of the work is the terminal’s departure curbside, which is being widened as part of a broader improvement effort. Crews will also build a new canopy over the area, meant to protect passengers from rain and searing heat as they exit their vehicles and head inside.
“We’re upgrading the Terminal 3 curbside with a new canopy that will provide passengers with better shelter from rain and heat as they are dropped off and enter the terminal,” the NNIC said in its advisory.
While the inner departure lane is sealed off overnight, drop-offs will keep moving through the lanes that stay open. NNIC noted that should congestion set in, departing passengers can alternatively be let off at Arrival Bays 1 and 8, then take the closest elevators up to the check-in counters.
To keep vehicles moving, the operator plans to station traffic marshals on site and put up directional signage throughout the affected zone. Passengers were urged to build in additional time for their trips and to heed instructions from airport staff.
NNIC pegged the duration of the curbside project at roughly one month.
