Matet de Leon snaps at critics over inheritance speculation following Nora Aunor’s death

Frustration boiled over for Matet de Leon this weekend, when she took to TikTok to confront the public chatter surrounding her late mother’s estate. In a video that showed her lip-syncing to Yano’s “Banal na Aso, Santong Kabayo,” the actress fired back at commenters who have weighed in on whether she and her siblings are quarreling over what their mother left behind.

One commenter suggested the family settle matters quietly, writing, “Sakin lang naman, tama na, sana maresolve privately.” Matet rejected the idea outright. “Kami ba ang gag—? O ang mga tao? Nananahimik kami. Mana ng mana. Nakakasuka naaaaa!” she wrote, before adding, “Wala kami ire-resolve. Ayoko mag-resolve. Manahimik na lang mga kupal na nagco-comment na akala eh alam lahat. OK na yun. Wala akong pakialam kay Ian.”

Her sarcasm sharpened when others pressed the point. Told that the siblings deserved privacy, she shot back, “walang privacy privacy!” and followed with, “Dapat naka labas lahat! Lahat,” punctuating the remark with laughing emojis. When a commenter floated the theory that someone had been left out of the will, writing “baka kaya ndi binigyan,” she simply answered “oo nga.”

The outburst landed at the same moment her siblings were airing their own positions in public. Adopted sister Lotlot de Leon told reporters at a press conference that she was not chasing any share of the estate, declaring “wala akong hinahabol na mana.” Her remarks referenced a television appearance by their brother Ian, the only biological child of Nora Aunor and Christopher de Leon.

Ian had surfaced the family tensions during a Friday sit-down on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” where he characterized the discord as temporary. “I don’t want to force anything until it’s the right time for things to be solved,” he said. He used the platform to describe a one-person corporation he set up to safeguard his mother’s legacy, adding that he intended to bring his siblings into the arrangement.

Matet had taken a softer line just weeks earlier. Appearing on the same program in May, she pushed back on reports of a rift, framing the situation as nothing more than a misunderstanding among the siblings.

Nora Aunor, honored as a National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts in 2022, built her reputation on landmark performances in “Himala,” “Bona,” and “Minsa’y Isang Gamu-gamo.” Her marriage to Christopher de Leon, which began in 1975, ended in annulment in 1996, and the union produced five children: Ian, Lotlot, Matet, Kiko, and Kenneth.
