A raid on a cannabis-growing operation in the Doha area has landed a Kuwaiti national in custody, with investigators recovering both narcotics and a substantial sum of cash.
According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, officers tracked the suspect through a period of surveillance and inquiry before moving in on the growing site. The man now faces accusations of running the farm and holding drugs meant for sale as well as personal use.
Among the items confiscated were 6 kilograms of marijuana, 250 grams of hashish, and the tools used to cultivate the plants. Investigators also recovered 17,820 Kuwaiti dinars in cash. Footage released by the ministry showed narcotics packed into bottles and hidden behind garments inside closets.
The case has been passed, along with the suspect and everything seized, to the appropriate bodies for prosecution.
This is not an isolated action. Roughly a week earlier, on August 4, the ministry reported the detention of 23 individuals across 12 distinct cases, all tied to drug trafficking and possession charges. The General Directorate for Drug Control had built those cases through its own monitoring and investigative work.
Beyond the narcotics themselves, that earlier sweep turned up precision scales, ammunition, packaging supplies for readying drugs to distribute, and money authorities believe came from selling narcotics. Both operations reflect a broader campaign by Kuwaiti authorities aimed at cutting off the supply and spread of illegal drugs across the country.
