IKEA UAE brings Filipino menu back for food month celebration

All IKEA restaurant branches across the UAE are serving Filipino dishes this week as part of a Philippine Embassy-backed celebration of Filipino Food Month.

The culinary showcase, running from April 15 to 20, features a lineup of classic Filipino staples spanning breakfast and lunch — tocino in the morning, and kare-kare alongside Filipino chicken barbecue for midday meals.

The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi is behind the initiative, framing it as an open invitation to both the Filipino community and the wider UAE public to experience the country’s cuisine in an accessible, everyday setting.

IKEA UAE has previously hosted Filipino menus tied to Philippine Independence Day on June 12, a tradition that has grown in scale over recent years. Last year’s edition ran from June 12 to 17 and featured a collaboration with Filipino chef JP Anglo, whose Dubai restaurant Kooya has helped raise the profile of Filipino cuisine in the Gulf. The April run marks a separate occasion — Filipino Food Month — extending the brand’s engagement with the community beyond its usual mid-year slot.

The promotion is also running concurrently at IKEA Qatar.
