From seniors to youth: More than 25,000 turn out for Abu Dhabi’s Run for the Nation

A mass community run drew over 25,000 participants to Abu Dhabi, with the event opening to an aerial display by the Fursan Al Emarat aerobatic team tracing the colors of the UAE flag across the sky.

The course began at Wahat Al Karama and ended at Erth Abu Dhabi Hotel, the Armed Forces Officers Club and Hotel. Participants ranged from senior citizens and People of Determination to youth, families, and competitive runners.

Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi said the turnout reflected the depth of community ties to the country and its leadership. “What we are witnessing today in terms of strong community presence and active participation from all age groups reflects the importance that national initiatives hold within the collective consciousness of UAE society. It confirms that fostering a culture of community readiness and strengthening national awareness is a shared responsibility in which institutional efforts align with those of individuals,” he said.

Al Kaabi added: “The ‘Run for the Nation’ brings these values to life in a practical way, reinforcing social cohesion and solidarity while promoting healthy and active lifestyles that contribute to building a more aware and cohesive society capable of supporting sustainable national development.”

The Zayed Charity Run Higher Organising Committee and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council co-organised the event. Sponsors included International Golden Group, Aldar, Road Transit, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Al Ain Water, Burjeel Holdings, Arabian Radio Network, Wahat Al Karama, and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre.

After the run, a community village at Erth Abu Dhabi offered recreational activities and family programmes for participants and their families.
