A District Center tucked inside Jordan Plains Subdivision in Barangay Sta. Monica became the final stop Friday for First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, who personally handed out rice to thousands of residents in one of the 14 barangays that make up Quezon City’s fifth district.
Each of the 3,300 recipients in Novaliches took home 10 kilos of rice, closing out a five-day run of distributions under the first lady’s “Mula sa Puso Para sa Pamilya” program across the capital region.
The recurring 10-kilo allocation sits at the heart of the initiative, which aims to lighten everyday costs for families with limited means while channeling demand toward rice grown by Filipino farmers.
Beyond the staple grain, several attendees walked away with bonus winnings drawn through on-site raffles. Prizes ranged from extra sacks of rice and rice cookers to a television set.
The Quezon City turnout followed earlier legs that had taken the program through both Quezon City and Manila neighborhoods over the preceding days, each reaching households identified as needing support.
